Raw material exports from France down by 15%

Figures for the first five months of 2026 show that France exported hides and skins worth €73.4 million, down by 15% compared to the same period last year.

Bovine hides contributed €49 million to the total, down by 9% year on year. Calfskin exports had a value of €12.1 million, but this represented a steeper fall, 33.1% year on year.

The decline for sheepskins was even greater. This material brought in €3.8 million over the five-month period, down by 47%.

There were also exotic skins exports of €6.8 million, down by 7%.
