Italy selected to host IULTCS World Congress 2029
Italy has been selected to host the IULTCS World Congress 2029 following unanimous approval of the country’s bid by the IULTCS Executive Committee.
The proposal was presented by Tomaso Pellegrini, recently elected president of the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC), and highlighted Italy’s internationally recognised leather sector, integrated value chain and expertise across leather science and technology.
The congress programme is expected to focus on innovation, sustainability, circular economy and digital transformation. The proposal also includes technical visits to Italian leather districts and opportunities for scientific and industrial collaboration.
The event will coincide with the 125th anniversary of AICC, marking more than a century of contribution to the development of leather science and technology.
The IULTCS Executive Committee approved the proposal with all 20 voting members supporting the Italian bid. Preparations will now begin, including the establishment of an organising committee, selection of the host city and development of the scientific programme.
Mr Pellegrini said the Italian leather community was honoured by the decision and looked forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world to a congress focused on scientific excellence, innovation and international cooperation.
