South Africa’s department of trade, industry and competition (DTIC) has hailed as a major success a new event to set up dialogue between buyers from major retail groups and manufacturing companies in leather and footwear. 

The event took place in Durban at the start of July. 

Co-organisers with DTIC included the Southern African Footwear and Leather Industries Association (SFLIA), and the South African Footwear and Leather Export Council (SAFLEC). 

DTIC said the event gave manufacturers the opportunity to engage directly with retail buyers.
