IULTCS Congress set for October 2027

The International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) has announced that its 39th congress will take place in León, Mexico, from October 25 to 28, 2027.

The event will be held at the Hotsson Hotel León and is expected to bring together leather scientists, technologists, researchers, manufacturers, brands, chemical suppliers, machinery specialists and sustainability professionals from around the world.

Organisers described the congress as the leading scientific gathering for the global leather sector, providing a platform for the presentation of new research, technological developments and industry collaboration.

Topics expected to feature prominently include leather science and technology, sustainability, circularity, renewable chemistry, traceability and responsible manufacturing.

The congress will also provide opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange across the leather value chain, with participation from universities, tanners, suppliers and brand representatives.

León, one of the world's most important leather manufacturing centres, will host the event, offering delegates an opportunity to engage with a region that combines a long-established leather heritage with a strong industrial base.

Organisers said the congress will focus on the role of science and collaboration in addressing the challenges facing the sector and shaping the future of leather manufacturing.
