Richemont expands Scandicci leather hub

Richemont has expanded its leather goods production hub in Scandicci, Italy, with an investment of more than €10 million, according to reports marking the site’s recent inauguration.

The Swiss luxury group has more than doubled the size of its Pelletteria Richemont Firenze facility to around 12,000 square metres, as part of a renovation programme running to March 2027. The site has been operating in Scandicci for around 20 years.

The expanded hub brings design, prototyping, testing and production support under one roof for five maisons: Cartier, Chloé, Dunhill, Montblanc and Serapian.

Recent reporting indicates the facility is intended as a centralised development and manufacturing base for Richemont’s leather goods operations in Italy. It also includes a research and development unit and shared technical services.

The expansion reflects a wider trend of luxury groups reinforcing production in the Florence–Scandicci leather district despite ongoing consolidation among smaller workshops. The site also features photovoltaic capacity covering more than half of its energy needs.
