Henan-Prosper acquires French leather supplier
Henan Prosper & Colomer Moda has completed the acquisition of French leather raw material company Les Cuirs de l’Ouest (LCO) through its Italian subsidiary, Ausonia.
The deal, completed in April, adds LCO to the group's portfolio and strengthens its position in the premium bovine leather sector. The French company has long been part of Europe's leather raw material supply network.
According to Henan Prosper & Colomer Moda, Ausonia will serve as a strategic platform for the group's expansion in premium vegetable-tanned leather. The company acquired the Italian business in 2024 and has since invested in upgrades to its production site in Tuscany, including facility expansion, sustainability improvements and the establishment of a research and development centre.
The group is also building a new premium vegetable-tanned leather manufacturing facility in China. It said expertise from Ausonia will be integrated into the new operation to support production and supply for customers in China and other Asian markets.
Henan Prosper & Colomer Moda said the acquisition of LCO provides a foundation for the further development of its global bovine leather business.
