New figures show that cattle slaughter in Argentina reached a total of just over 4.9 million head in the first five months of 2026. 

This represents a fall of 9.8% compared to the same months in 2025. 

The average weight of cattle going to slaughter in January-May 2026 was 236.2 kilos, up by 2.7% on the figure for the same months last year.
