Q1 growth in leather export revenues for French tanners
Tanners in France exported finished leather with a value of €52.1 million in the first quarter of 2026, according to figures that Alliance France Cuir has shared. This represents an increase of 9% compared to the same quarter last year.
Finished bovine hides contributed €22.7 million to the total, while the figure for calfskins was €14.6 million. These figures denote growth of 15% and 11% year on year.
For sheepskin leather, the figure was down, with export revenues of €8.7 million for this material in the three-month period, a fall of 19%.
Exports of exotic leather also grew, though, bringing in €3.4 million, an increase of 10% compared to the first quarter of 2025.
