New postgrad programme to focus on leather finishing for automotive
The University of Lleida, which is the parent institution of the A3 Leather Innovation Centre in Igualada, is introducing a new postgraduate certificate in advanced leather finishes for automotive interiors.
It has developed the programme for the new certificate in partnership with chemicals group Stahl.
Another chemicals group, Henkel, has a formal agreement in place to acquire Stahl; the deal is not yet complete and is still subject to regulatory approvals and consultation processes.
Before this, Stahl completed the spin-off of the wet-end leather chemicals part of its business, which now operates as Muno, a fully independent company.
What Stahl has retained, and will take forward into its acquisition by Henkel, includes its leather finishing chemicals division.
Stahl has said the programme it has worked on for the new postgraduate certificate will combine industry expertise with hands-on learning. It said the new programme will equip industry professionals with the skills “to lead in automotive leather finishing”.
It said it was “proud to collaborate with leading academic and industry experts to drive innovation and sustainability in automotive interiors”.
