Duty-free US beef returns to the UK
Duty-free shipments of US beef are being sent to the UK for the first time in more than five years, following implementation of a new trade framework.
The UK has created a 13,000 metric ton duty-free quota for US beef, with the first products arriving last month.
When the UK departed from the European Union, US beef no longer had duty-free access to the UK. This increased costs for British importers and the US beef supply chain, making the UK market more difficult to serve.
Two events in London - the Beef Checkoff Programme and state beef councils from Nebraska, South Dakota and Texas - aim to raise awareness among prospective customers.
