Slight dip for French leathergoods exports, but bags hold their own
The French leathergoods sector achieved export revenues of just over €2 billion in the first two months of 2026. This figure represents a fall of 1% compared to the results for January and February 2025.
As always, handbags contributed by far the biggest share of the total, more than 72%, and brought in revenues of nearly €1.5 billion.
In isolation, export revenues from handbags was up by 2% year on year.
Small leathergoods brought in €163.7 million, a fall of 20% year on year, while watch-straps accounted for revenues of €24.9 million, down by 6%.
