Leather and footwear part of Vietnamese growth plan

The Vietnamese province of Dong Nai has announced a plan to grow its supply chain business for the footwear, textiles and car industries, according to local press.

The local government said it will focus on technology and automation in production and to build business parks to attract international funding.

Supporting industries are expected to account for a quarter of province’s total industrial production between by 2030, with the aim of supporting around 1,200 businesses.

It currently has around 1,000 – 713 of which are foreign-owned – mainly in the textile and garment, leather and footwear, mechanical engineering, and electronics sectors.
