Footwear exports up, imports down for China
Footwear manufacturers in China exported nearly 1.7 billion pairs in the first two months of 2026. These exports brought in revenues of $7.5 billion.
The China Leather Industry Association has reported that these figures represent increases of 12% in volume and 6,1% in value.
Leather footwear accounted for exports of 97 million pairs across the two-month period, with a value of $1.25 billion, increases of 12% and 6.1% respectively year on year.
Over the same period, China imported 25.5 million pairs of shoes and other footwear, with a value of $870 million, falls of 19.9% in volume and of 1.1% in value.
Of these, leather shoes accounted for 6.8 million pairs and a value of $340 million, down by 23.6% and 8.8% respectively.
