Hide exports from France fall in value in 2025

16/04/2026

Full-year figures show that France exported raw hides with a value €197.4 million in 2025, a fall of 3% compared to the previous year.

Tanners in Italy were still by far the biggest buyers, spending €137.6 million on raw hides from France last year. But this was a downturn of 8% compared to the previous year.

This was offset only partially by an increase in the value of exports of French hides to China, where tanners spent €29.8 million on the material last year, up by 30% year on year.

Industry organization Alliance France Cuir pointed out that this was the third year in succession in which the value of raw hide exports from France had fallen.
