US wet-salted hide exports down in Q1, wet blue holds its own
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reported volumes of US exports of wet-salted cattle hides at just over 4.3 million pieces at the end of March.
At the same point in the calendar in 2025, the total was 5 million pieces, which indicates a fall of 13.9% year on year.
There was better news for wet blue exports. In the first three months of this year, the total volume of wet blue reached 1.7 million pieces. This represents an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year.
