Hermès opens sixth regional workshop
French leathergoods brand Hermès has inaugurated a new leather goods workshop in Loupes, Gironde, marking its 25th production site in France.
The facility will eventually employ 260 artisan saddler-leatherworkers, trained through the École Hermès des savoir-faire. It is the company’s sixth leather goods and saddlery workshop in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and its second in Gironde.
Artisans at the site will produce established models such as the Kelly and Constance bags, as well as contributing to new product development. Hermès said the expansion supports continued demand for its leather goods and saddlery collections, which are manufactured exclusively in France.
The project is part of a broader investment programme that includes additional workshops planned in other regions, alongside a focus on training and skills transmission.
