AI chatbot among solutions to emerge from ‘Learning Factories’

Partners in a project for improving training for new-generation leathergoods artisans held their final project meeting in Poznan, Poland, on 19 March.

This project, called ‘Learning Factories’, is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Training providers from Spain, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Belgium took part.

These training organisations said they were committed to working closely with small and medium-sized leathergoods manufacturers to develop high-quality, short-term vocational education programmes.

They said these programmes should be “agile and creative” and respond effectively to the industry’s needs.

Other key topics that emerged from ‘Learning Factories’ included the need for design to become zero-waste and AI-supported to drive “the digital transformation of value-added manufacturing operations”.

The result will be what the project partners called “a new generation of learning content”. This will include AI-based tools and video resources aimed at attracting and retaining talent, while equipping learners with the skills required for “the green and digital transitions”.

This will include an AI-powered chatbot capable of answering questions related to the course content and the leathergoods industry.

Project partners will now organise a series of in-person and online events to further disseminate the project’s results and promote across Europe the uptake of the training solutions that have come out of it.
