Workers at JBS plant in Colorado go on strike

16/03/2026

A strike began at JBS’s meat-packing plant in Greeley, Colorado, on March 16. With 3,800 workers involved in the dispute, The Wall Street Journal said it was the largest strike at a meat plant in the US in decades. The plant has the capacity to process 6,000 head of cattle today.

Last year, JBS agreed a new, long-term labour contract with unions representing most of its workers in the US. The union representing workers in Greeley refused the terms, which it said did not reflect the high cost of living there.

After months of negotiations on a separate deal for the Greeley plant, talks collapsed.

A spokesperson for JBS told the WSJ that the group stands by the offer it has made, calling it “strong, fair and consistent”.
