France: leather exports down slightly

Figures for the first ten months of 2025 show that exports of leathergoods from factories in France had a total value of €10.3 billion. This is 4% less than these exports generated in the same months in 2024.

Over the same period, exports of hides and skins from France had a value of €170.2 million, flat with the figure for the first ten months of 2024.

Bovine hides accounted for €103.2 million, down by 1% year on year. Calfskins contributed €31.3 million, down by 16% compared to the January-October period in the previous year.

There were increases in exports of exotic skins and sheepskins. These brought in €20.9 million and €12.8 million, respectively, increases of 15% and of 25% year on year.

Exports of finished leather in the first ten months of 2025 brought in €179.3 million, a fall of 4% year on year. Finished bovine leather accounted for €70.8 million of the total, up by 2% compared to the same period the year before. Exports of calf leather were worth €40.6 million, an increase of 24%.
