Adolfo Domínguez embraces leather in sustainability shift
Spanish fashion brand Adolfo Domínguez has announced a return to using leather in its collections, presenting the move as part of its sustainability strategy. On its LinkedIn account, the company stated: “Returning to the use of leather is one of them. In contrast to petroleum-derived materials, we choose a natural, durable material that develops character over time.”

The brand emphasised that all leather used is a by-product of the meat industry, with no additional animal slaughter, and is sourced through tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group to ensure environmentally responsible processes. It added: “Because the way we dress also speaks to how we relate to materials, resources, and the future.”

Adolfo Domínguez largely stepped away from using leather in 2010, introducing a policy favouring animal-free alternatives. The recent decision marks the first significant reintroduction of leather into its main collections in roughly 15 years, reflecting a shift in its sustainability approach, which also includes B Corp certification and ongoing responsible sourcing initiatives.
