Falls in leather footwear imports continue in China
The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has reported footwear exports of just over 7.4 billion pairs in the first ten months of 2025. These shipments generated $34.5 billion in revenues.
CLIA said these figures represent a fall of 1.7% in volume and of 10% in value.
Exports of leather shoes over the ten-month period reached 430 million pairs in volume, with revenues of $6 billion, down by 4.8% and 9.6%, respectively, year on year.
In terms of imports, retailers and traders in China sourced 140 million shoes, boots and sandals between January and October 2025, paying $4.4 billion for them. These figures represent falls of 15.1% in volume and of 10.1% in value.
Imports of leather shoes had a volume of 43.3 million pairs over the same period, with a total value of just under $2 billion, down by 23.9% and 18.8%.
