Turkey bans leathergoods e-commerce imports from China
Tukey’s minister of trade has said it will ban consumers there from bringing into the country leathergoods and footwear purchase online from Chinese e-commerce platforms.
The ban will apply to products that sellers have shipped to private addresses by post or parcel delivery company.
Towards the end of October, the ministry said it had carried out tests on more than 180 imported items and found that more than 80% of them failed to meet safety standards.
In a statement, the ministry said that laboratory tests showed items brought in from China to have excess levels of phthalates, lead, cadmium and other substances that it said posed a risk to public health.
