Exports of French hides, skins and leather drop in value
In its analysis of figures for the French leather industry in the first ten months of 2024, Alliance France Cuir has reported a fall in the value of exports of French hides and skins.
Between January and October 2024, France exported raw hides and skins worth €170.9 million, down by 6% on the figure for the same period in 2023.
Bovine hides brought in the bulk of these revenues, contributing €104.2 million, but this figure represents a fall of 12% year on year.
Exports of processed hides and skins had a value of €187.1 million in the first ten months of the year, down by 2% compared to the same period in 2023.
Finished leather made up the bulk of this total, bringing in €163.4 million. This represents a fall of 5% year on year.
