Sustainable livestock will be the focus of new European Parliament group
Multistakeholder group European Livestock Voice has welcomed a new group in the European Parliament whose focus will be on sustainable livestock.
Members of the parliament from different member states and political tendencies are supporting the new group, which will aim to explore ways to make livestock farming more sustainable, environmentally, socially and economically, while guaranteeing food safety, animal welfare and rural community life.
European Livestock Voice said the new parliamentary group would play a central role in “bridging the gap between policymakers and the realities faced by farmers and professionals on the ground”.
It will provide a platform to discuss practical solutions for promoting sustainability in livestock farming across Europe and help ensure that rural communities become more vocal during policy debates in Brussels, it said.
