16/12/2024
The Indian Government has approved a state-of-the-art design studio and leather fashion training centre at the Kanpur Leather Cluster (KLC) in Unnao. Supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Exim Bank, the initiative aims to modernise the leather industry, which, according to local media employs nearly 200,000 families and generates an annual turnover of approximately $1.06 billion, mostly from exports.

Equipped with advanced technologies like 3D printers, CAD CAM, and material scanners, the facilities will also offer six-month diploma courses in collaboration with NIFT Raebareli, training local youth for industry demands. Over 2,500 MSMEs are expected to benefit, reducing reliance on design centres in other cities and boosting the region’s domestic and export potential.
