Violence erupts amid Prato protests
Leathergoods workers in Prato, Italy, were recently attacked while protesting for improved working conditions, according to a Reuters report. The demonstration, organised by the Sudd Cobas union, took place outside several local fashion workshops.
A group of hooded individuals assaulted the workers with iron bars, leaving four people injured and requiring medical treatment.
Prato is home to a number of Chinese-run businesses. The area has seen repeated investigations into alleged labour violations, including the use of illegal workers and unsafe working conditions.
