German car seat maker to close

04/10/2024
Recaro Automotive GmbH, a major car seat manufacturer, based in Kirchheim, Germany will cease operations due to ongoing financial difficulties. Local reports confirm that over 200 production workers will lose their jobs, with only 40 employees in sales and technology remaining temporarily. An additional 175 layoffs are expected by the end of the year.

The company, founded in 1906, entered administration in July but is no longer considered viable after losing a key contract. Current insolvency proceedings indicate that seat production will not continue, despite talks with a potential investor. All employees are expected to be laid off.

While Recaro’s German division will shut down, other international branches remain unaffected.
