Leathergoods production begins at new Hermès factory
Production has begun at the new workshop that luxury leathergoods group Hermès has set up in Riom in central France.
The new workshop is in a renovated tobacco factory in the town; 250 specially trained leathergoods artisans will work there.
This takes the total number of company-owned leathergoods factories that Hermès operates to 23. These facilities are spread across nine different regions of France.
The company has said it will work with employment service France Travail, with adult education service Greta and with two local high schools to keep recruiting new talent for its workshops in the area.
