SLF offers EUDR testing opportunity
The Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF), a member of the European Commission’s Deforestation Platform, is offering its partners the opportunity to test their GeoJSON files ahead of the December launch of the new Information System under the European Union Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR).
Companies participating in this trial run will be able to upload data in GeoJSON format to assess its functionality within the system. While there is no limit on the number of companies that can participate, each company is restricted to submitting three files during the trial.
The EUDR, which requires accurate geolocation data to ensure that products originate from areas not subject to deforestation, mandates the use of GeoJSON files, a standardised format for representing geographic information. Ensuring the accuracy and compatibility of these files is crucial for compliance with the regulation.
This testing initiative is part of the broader effort by the EUDR Deforestation Commission to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. The Commission hopes that this trial will assist companies in preparing for the upcoming regulatory changes. Stakeholders have been eager to begin testing, and this opportunity is expected to address those needs.
Participants are encouraged to notify SLF of their involvement to help maintain a record of those taking part. Further details, including links to additional information and contact points for queries, can be found here
