Parent group CEO says Timberland is a work in progress
The parent group of Timberland, VF Corporation, has reported group revenues of $1.9 billion for the first quarter of its current business year.
This represents a decline of 9% compared to the same period a year ago.
Timberland’s contribution was $229.4 million, the group’s third-largest behind casual footwear brand Vans and outdoor brand The North Face. Timberland’s revenues were down by 10% compared to the same quarter a year ago.
Chief executive, Bracken Darrell, said the group was on track to deliver cost savings. He said: “We have big activities that are happening all the time now, and the pace is not going to let up.”
Mr Darrell, who took up the role just over a year ago, said he thought Timberland to be an interesting brand. “We are not particularly focused on it for now, but I am excited about Timberland. It’s a little different in every part of the world, which is one of its challenges. It’s a work in progress.”
