Accolades for Zenda

Uruguayan automotive leather manufacturer Zenda has won recognition from Lear Corporation.

Seating solutions provider Lear has named Zenda as best supplier for projects for automotive group Stellantis in Brazil. It also bestowed a second award on Zenda for a kaizen (continuous improvement) project.

“These awards are the result of our team’s hard work and commitment to excellence and continuous innovation,” Zenda said. “We have demonstrated our ability to adapt and make a positive impact.”

Zenda’s roots are in a Montevideo-based footwear tannery called Branáa, founded in 1890. In the 1990s, a member of the founding family, Walter Branáa, changed the company’s direction to focus on automotive. Walter Branáa died in 2019.

In 2012, the Branáa family sold its stake in the business to Brazilian group Marfrig. One year later, Marfrig sold the company to JBS and, since then, Zenda has functioned as part of JBS Couros.
