Manifesto commitment from Gruppo Dani

24/07/2024

Leather manufacturing group Dani has signed a ‘Businesses for People and Society’ manifesto as part of its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact.

The United Nations refers to the Global Compact as the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. More than 15,000 companies around the world and 4,000 non-business organisations are involved in the initiative, which the UN launched at the start of the new millennium.

Participating companies have to commit to ten principles to support corporate sustainability, with these principles coming from established UN treaties on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Company leaders need to commit to bringing these principles into all aspects of the business, to share progress transparently and to support wider UN initiatives, including the 17 Sustainable Development Goals the organisation set up in 2015.

Group president, Giancarlo Dani, said: “We are truly proud to adhere to the manifesto promoted by the United Nations. It is a step that adds to the important commitments we have made in terms of social sustainability.”

He said good people management was “an indispensable factor” in the group’s business strategy and in allowing it to continue a journey towards sustainability that, he said, Gruppo Dani has been undertaking for years.
