July success on the road for Brazilian leather
The Brazilian leather industry has reported success after its participation at two international events in July, the Shoes and Leather Vietnam fair in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Lineapelle New York.
Tanneries that took part in these events have told industry body CICB that they expect orders worth a combined total of $25 million to come in as a result.
These companies’ participation at the exhibitions in Vietnam and the US was supported by the Brazilian Leather project, a partnership between the CICB and trade and investment promotions agency ApexBrasil.
Tanners that travelled to Vietnam were America Leather, A. P. Müller, Durlicouros, Curtume CBR, and JBS Couros. CICB’s Rogério Cunha said the business that was likely to result from this were three times greater than in 2023. He said this highlighted the increasing importance of Vietnam as an export destination for Brazilian hides and leather.
In total, there were 14 Brazilian exhibitors at Lineapelle New York fair. According to Letícia Luft, manager of the Brazilian Leather project, the event in Manhattan has become a crucial part of the international agenda of the Brazilian leather sector.
She said: “Lineapelle New York is the event of choice for research and material sourcing for major brands and designers, making our presence there essential.”
