CICB leads trade missions to Thailand and Vietnam
Tanners from Brazil travelled to Asia in early July to take part in trade missions to Thailand and Vietnam.
Head of trade intelligence at industry organisation CICB, Rogério Cunha, led the delegation.
The trade mission to Thailand took place on July 4 and 5, with a series of meetings in Bangkok. A follow-up mission to Ho Chi Minh City followed on July 8 and 9.
America Leather, AP Müller, Durlicouros, Curtume CBR e JBS Couros were the tanners taking part.
CICB said Vietnamese imports of Brazilian leather increased by 23.6% in 2023 compared to the previous year. “With the decentralisation of goods production, previously highly concentrated in China, other nations are gaining prominence,” Rogério Cunha said.
“Vietnam is already the fourth-largest destination for our exports, accounting for 7.1% of our total export values in 2023.”
