Data from the US department of agriculture shows that the value of beef exports from the country in May was more than $900 million. This was the highest monthly value since June 2023.

Reacting to the news, the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF), said strong demand for US beef in Japan, Mexico and Taiwan had helped push revenues up to $902.4 million, an increase of 3% year on year.

In the course of the month of May, US companies exported more than 110,000 tonnes. This volume was lower by 5% than the volume of beef the US exported in the same month last year.

In the first five months of 2024, US beef exports have achieved a total value of almost $4.3 billion, an increase of 5%.

Over the same period, however, volumes were down by 4% year on year, reaching 533,578 tonnes.
