Argentina's beef consumption to hit record low
In 2024, beef consumption in Argentina is expected to drop to a historic low due to economic challenges.
The average Argentine is projected to consume about 44.8 kg of beef, the lowest since 1914. President Javier Milei has implemented austerity measures, leading to a shift in consumer preferences towards cheaper alternatives like chicken and pork. As a result, overall meat consumption is expected to decrease by 9% compared to last year.Meanwhile, Argentine farmers are focusing more on beef exports, with a 10% increase in export volumes from January to May.
