Leathergoods training empowers women

A six-month training program on the design and manufacture of leather goods and garments was launched at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) branch in Srinagar.

The program, supported by Central Electronics Limited (CEL), aims to train 10 women in manufacturing leather goods. The trainees will receive a monthly stipend of 5000 rupees ($60) and will be taught theoretical and practical classes.

The program is part of CSIR-IIIM’s efforts to support the local economy and create livelihoods. Additionally, plans for subsequent two-month training programs were announced. Syed Abdul Basit Andrabi will provide technical support for the program.
