Elmo tannery launches leather academy

Swedish leather manufacturer Elmo has announced the launch of its Leather Academy, a comprehensive program designed to enhance knowledge and insights about leather.

The academy offers a range of courses and workshops covering topics such as sustainability, maintenance, materiality, and trends. These sessions can be customised for various durations, from brief introductions to full-day experiences.

The Leather Academy aims to educate participants on the benefits of leather across the entire value chain.

Workshops are interactive, including activities like painting and creating items from scrap leather, emphasising eco-conscious practices such as zero waste.

Courses are designed to suit clients' specific needs, whether it's learning about the production process, animal welfare, or the properties of leather. The academy also explores combining leather with other materials to enhance functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Participants can choose from on-site two-day courses at the Svenljunga tannery or in-depth lectures delivered at their location.

Elmo's initiative aims to ensure that manufacturers can effectively communicate the unique selling points of leather to their customers, enhancing the value perceived at the moment of purchase.
