New chapter ahead as Lanvin names artistic director
Luxury ground Lanvin has named Peter Copping as its new artistic director. He will take up the role in September.
A graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, Peter Copping has been working as head of couture at Balenciaga. He previously worked at Oscar de la Renta, Nina Ricci, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Sonia Rykiel.
Chinese group Fosun International became Lanvin’s majority shareholder in 2018 and set up The Lanvin Group.
Lanvin Group chief executive, Eric Chan, said the group was delighted to have secured the services of Peter Copping, whom he described as an “outstanding talent”. He said this represented a new chapter for Lanvin and “fits perfectly with our commitment to meeting the evolving needs and desires of our clients”.
Mr Copping paid tribute to Jeanne-Marie Lanvin, the founder of the company, calling her “a visionary” whose interests and passions “extended far beyond fashion”. He said this applied to him too.
