Pakistan enhancing leather supply chain transparency
WWF Pakistan has enlisted the Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF) to develop "Transparency and Traceability Guidelines for the Leather Supply Chain of Pakistan" as part of the European Union-funded project "International Labour & Environmental Standards Application in Pakistan’s SMEs (ILES)."
The project aims to promote sustainable economic growth and development in Pakistan by enhancing environmental sustainability and livelihoods.
The guidelines will help the leather industry understand the importance of a traceable and transparent value chain, establish standardised policies and procedures, and support engagement with policymakers and private stakeholders to increase access to international markets.
The project is expected to be completed by July 2024.
