Venice palazzo to showcase Bottega Veneta leathergoods
Luxury leathergoods brand Bottega Veneta is to open a new showroom space in a fifteenth-century palazzo in the heart of Venice.
Specialist art and architecture media in Italy have reported that Bottega Veneta is to open a new space for showcasing its collections in the Gothic splendour of the Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel, close to the church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, in the Cannaregio district of Venice.
The palace was built between 1473 and 1479 for Venetian noble family the Soranzo. Other noble families, notably the Venier and Sanudo families, later occupied the building. Then, in 1652, the Van Axel merchant family, originally from the Netherlands, took ownership.
