Good growth in value for US beef exports
The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has confirmed that the country’s shipments of beef in the first four months of this year reached a total volume of 423,455 tonnes, a decline of 3% year on year.
However, in value terms, beef exports showed growth, rising by 5% year on year to reach just under $3.4 billion.
Taking the month of April in isolation, USMEF said beef exports were up slightly in volume compared to the same month last year, reaching 111,580 tonnes, the largest monthly volume since June 2023.
The value for April was a little under $900 million, up by 5% year on year and, again, the highest figure since June 2023.
