Luxury group Chanel has confirmed the departure of its creative director, Virginie Viard. 

After reports across the world’s fashion press that Ms Viard was leaving, Chanel said in a statement on June 6 that it was grateful to her for her “remarkable contribution” to the company’s creativity, its vitality and its popularity.

Virginie Viard had spent more than 30 years at Chanel, many of them working side by side with the late Karl Lagerfeld. She took over as the company’s creative director in 2019.
