New tannery deal in Morocco

An agreement was recently signed with the Italian Nuti Ivo group to establish a second modern tannery in Morocco.

The ceremony was attended by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, and Fabrizio Nuti, CEO of the Nuti Ivo group.

The memorandum, effective from 2025 to 2029, includes a €12.2 million investment. Expected to generate annual sales of €28 million, with over 90% from exports, the project will create 265 direct jobs and produce 11,500 skins daily, primarily sourced locally.

Emphasising sustainability, the tannery will use solar energy and recycle waste into fertiliser, compost, and gelatine. Mr Mezzour highlighted that the project aligns with environmental and quality standards, enhancing Morocco's tanning industry.

Nuti Ivo, in Morocco since 2010, plans to double production. Its first tannery, Shihara, in Marrakech, achieves annual sales over €10 million, mainly from exports to Italy, China, and Thailand.
