SBTi approves Bader emissions targets

Automotive leather group Bader has announced the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved its near-term science-based emissions reduction targets.

Bader aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2019 base year and Scope 3 GHG emissions by 28% within the same period.

The strategy to achieve these targets includes increasing efficiency in drying processes, expanding the use of renewable energy at its locations, and purchasing renewable electricity when feasible. Additionally, by 2028, Bader plans for 30% of its suppliers, by emissions from purchased goods and services, to have science-based targets. The company also commits to working closely with its leather suppliers to gain transparency into their supply chain emissions.
