Natural, eco-friendly, modern: French consumers share views on leather
Industry body Alliance France Cuir has begun reporting the findings of a consumer attitude survey it carried out towards the end of last year.
Overall, French consumers who responded said they had a strong preference for natural materials, with 83% saying they regarded cotton as a favoured material.
Leather had the same status for 40% of the people who took part, putting it in equal second place in the preferred materials ranking, with wool and cashmere.
Specific to leather, 86% of respondents said they regarded it as a natural material and 55% said they considered leather an environmentally responsible material.
Finally, 70% of respondents said they regarded leather as a modern material choice.
Alliance France Cuir has said it will share other findings from the study on social media in the coming weeks.
