Spin360 to draft UNIDO leather lifecycle guidelines

Spin360, in partnership with UNIDO, is spearheading a project to develop Leather Environmental Footprint Guidelines.

The initiative seeks to establish standardised methodologies for Leather Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and create a Corporate Carbon Footprint Tool for tanneries.

This collaboration addresses industry challenges such as data scarcity and methodological discrepancies in environmental footprint calculations. By harmonising standards and developing tailored tools, the project aims to streamline carbon footprint assessments and promote sustainability across the leather supply chain.

Federico Brugnoli, CEO of Spin360, highlights their commitment to supporting sustainable development goals through standardized methodologies. Ivan Kral from UNIDO emphasised the importance of global harmonisation for the leather industry's sustainability.

The project, initiated in 2024, will culminate in the release of harmonised guidelines and a Corporate Carbon Footprint Tool.

These efforts will be showcased at the Science Based Fashion Talks at Lineapelle in September 2024, marking a significant milestone in industry-wide sustainability initiatives.
