Dutch Ambassador Tours Kanpur-Unnao Leather Cluster
Netherlands Ambassador Marisa Gerards' recently visited the Kanpur-Unnao leather cluster (KLC) , emphasizing the Netherlands' commitment to both the industry and environmental protection.
During her visit, she engaged in discussions with industry representatives, particularly focusing on strategies to reduce water usage and prevent pollution in production processes.
Her tour included stops at Shivan Tannery and the KLC complex, where she witnessed first hand the modern laboratory facilities provided by CLRI and the centre of excellence established by Stahl and Solidaridad.
Discussions also took place with Anvarul Haq, president of UPLIA, highlighting the ongoing efforts within the cluster to address environmental concerns.
Gerards' visit not only reaffirmed Dutch support for the industry but also emphasised the need for continued cooperation between India and the Netherlands to drive meaningful progress in environmental sustainability within the leather sector.
