Australian beef industry's sustainable progress unveiled

The report evaluates the industry's performance across 54 sustainability indicators, encompassing aspects like animal care, economic resilience, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
Notably, last year's report highlighted a significant reduction in net CO2 emissions, reaching a record low of 45.21Mt, signalling tangible progress towards the industry's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
Despite facing challenges such as animal disease risks, extreme weather events, and market volatility, the industry has demonstrated resilience, with a notable increase in GDP contribution and improved land management practices.
The launch event will feature an address by Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Senator the Hon Murray Watt, and a panel discussion with key stakeholders from the beef supply chain.
Josie Zilm, NAB Agribusiness Executive and beef producer, emphasised the importance of sustainability practices in driving profitability and climate resilience on farms.
The ABSF Annual Update launch at Beef Australia 2024 underscores the beef industry's commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
