Made In Italy minister encourages overseas investors
A government minister whose portfolio includes promoting Made In Italy, Adolfo Urso, has said companies from other countries should consider setting up production in Italy.
“In the face of competition at a global level,” the minister said in a recent statement, “we have to make ourselves more and more attractive to overseas investors. This will boost our nationally strategic sectors, create employment and help us compete internationally.”
To this end, he announced a new support platform called Invest In Italy to help overseas investors set up operations in Italy.
The support will be two-tier. Investments of up to €25 million will entitle overseas companies to have easier access to authorisation of the steps they need to take. Companies that invest more than €1 billion in Italy will be able to avail themselves of a special commissioner who will be able to fast-track all the necessary administrative procedures to set up their operations in Italy.
